Lt. Col. Anthony (Tony) Shaffer (retired), a Newsmax contributor, is the President of both Project Sentinel and the London Center for Policy Research. He is also a New York Times bestselling author of “Operation DARK Heart” and a CIA-trained intelligence operations officer with 40 years of experience in global and national security. In his think-tank work, he serves as an advisor to senior members of the White House, the Intelligence Community, the Pentagon, and key members of Congress. Additionally, he collaborates with National Geographic as a creator and producer of “Chain of Command.” In 2017, he assumed the role of Homeland Security Advisor to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Department in Virginia and serves as its representative on the NYPD Counterterrorism Bureau’s greater task force.

As a senior DoD intelligence officer, he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Commander’s Award for Civil Service for his work on cutting-edge, highly classified DoD special activities. Lt. Col. Shaffer possesses detailed operational and policy expertise in the full spectrum of strategic national security issues, ranging from pioneering cyber operations to leading U.S. counterterrorism efforts and contributing to the development and use of “weaponized technology.”
